So you're probably asking 'Who is Aunt Sis and why do I care how she lived?' First, Aunt Sis was my grandmother. As the eldest daughter of 9 children, her siblings called her 'Sister' or 'Sis', rather than her given name; a practice common in the South. When those siblings had children, she became known to them as 'Aunt Sis'. Since this site will focus on things Southern, Aunt Sis seemed like an appropriate title.
Second, my grandmother was a very resourceful woman. She and my grandfather reared their family during the Depression; she used what was available to feed, clothe, and otherwise provide for their well being, along with the well being of many others. Even after those difficult times passed, she continued to take what she had and make the most of it. It was a mindset that created an attitude of abundance, and it is what I hope to share with you as we discover ways of nourishing both our bodies and our souls through living the Southern lifestyle.
Hi there
I'm Angie, and I want to thank you for visiting AuntSis.Life. Even though I'm not Aunt Sis, she did teach me a lot about what it means to live an abundant life. It's not about money and stuff. It's about making the most of what you have, and recognizing the things that are truly priceless like faith, family, and friends.
I've spent my life in the South, and it is my Happy Place. Even though the things I share will be from a Southern perspective, I believe they apply to all of us and I hope you will find them useful - or at least interesting!
